Access Keys.
This site uses access keys. Access keys are essentially keyboard shortcuts on a web site that give a keyboard or screen-reader* user quick and easy access to all the main areas of the site.
If you are using Windows pressing the ALT key in combination with the access key will give focus to that specific link on the page. Press Enter to select that link.
If you are using a Macintosh pressing the CTRL key in combination with the access key will automatically send you to that specific page.
The following are the access keys used on this site:
Home - Alt + 1
Advice & Information - Alt + 2
Deaf Users Information - Alt + 3
Direct Payment Support - Alt + 4

At the top of every page is a hidden link that is spoken by screen-reading software and will appear when 'tabbed to' using a keyboard. It is the first link and, when selected, will make reading skip past the rest of the menu items and commence at the beginning of the main page content.
